North Tawton is a small town located right in the centre of the county of Devon, within easy reach of the Dartmoor National Park. The River Taw, at the western approach to the town, gives North Tawton its name and is Celtic for 'silent river'. The town trail described in this leaflet can be joined at any point and if it is followed in a numerical sequence will take the walker on a logical route. Notable features are located on the map and described. |
