Ernest Harris

Ernest Harris was a wheelwright and carpenter.  He lived at Wheel Barton with his wife Jeanetta.  His son, Sydney, worked with him.

Pearl Harris and Margaret Anstey

Margaret was Sydney's daughter.  Pearl married Sydney's son, Michael.  Pearl looked after Sydney when they moved back to Winkleigh in the 1990s.

Silver trees

Silver Trees was run as a hotel and guest-house by Sydney and Nan until 1990 when they moved to Lifton where Sydney's son, Michael and his wife Pearl lived.

Sydney grew black hamburg grapes in his greenhouse at Silver Trees.  He made gallons of wine every year which was given to his dinner time customers.
