Braunton lifeboat
Here we see a Braunton lifeboat, the Robert and Catherine, which was in use at the turn of the century (1900), with her crew. She was later replaced with Robert and Catherine II and Robert and Catherine III.

Braunton lifeboat being launched
The launch of the Braunton lifeboat, a more complicated affair than todayâ??s launches seem to be. Farmers from Braunton would race to the station with their horses when they heard the alarm in order to help launch the boat.

Braunton lifeboat station
The lifeboat station once stood on the beach â?? known as Appledore No.3 station. It first housed a lifeboat called Dolphin, which worked out of the station until 1864. It was closed in 1919; the building was sold for £25 and soon after dismantled.
