| The Pillman Diaries | |
The diary was started in 1775 , probably by Jonas Pillman , who married Elizabeth Lock in North Tawton in 1780. He was described as a sojourner. The diary was continued by his son, James Pillman (1781-1849), who was a cooper by trade. The final entry dated 1849, reads "the last thing my father wrote before he died", which was obviously written by one of James's sons. In this short collection you will find the edited version of the diary prepared by Dr Jean Shields, who received it from the then churchwarden nineteen years ago. |
